Comprehensive Hearing Assessments for Children (4 Years and Above)
Ensuring your child’s hearing health is vital for their speech, language, cognitive development, and overall well-being. At Moreton Hearing, we specialise in providing comprehensive, accurate hearing assessments tailored specifically for children aged 4 years and above.
Hearing issues in children can often go undetected, impacting their ability to communicate effectively, learn new skills, and engage confidently with their surroundings. Identifying potential concerns early allows for timely intervention, improving their quality of life and helping them reach essential developmental milestones.
Our expert audiologists utilise child-friendly testing methods to create a relaxed, supportive environment during assessments. This approach ensures your child feels at ease, allowing us to obtain the most accurate results possible. We conduct thorough evaluations designed to identify a wide range of hearing issues, from mild hearing difficulties to more complex auditory concerns.
If our assessments indicate a hearing concern, we provide clear, actionable recommendations for further intervention or management. Whether it involves follow-up testing, referrals, or personalised management plans, our team is here to support your child’s unique needs every step of the way.
By choosing Moreton Hearing, you are investing in your child’s future, ensuring they receive the highest quality care and support for their hearing health.

Paediatric Hearing Assessment (Above 4 Years)
A comprehensive hearing assessment for children aged 4 and above helps identify any hearing difficulties that may impact speech, learning, and overall development. Our assessments are specifically designed to ensure a stress-free experience for young children while delivering accurate results.
The evaluation process includes:
- Pure-Tone Audiometry: Your child listens to various tones and indicates when they hear a sound, helping to determine the softest sounds they can detect.
- Speech Discrimination Testing: Assesses your child’s ability to recognise and repeat spoken words, providing valuable insight into their speech comprehension.
- Tympanometry: Evaluates middle ear function to detect issues such as fluid buildup or eardrum movement problems.
- Acoustic reflex testing: It is a standard component of a comprehensive hearing assessment. When a loud sound enters the ear, a small muscle in the middle ear—called the stapedius muscle—automatically contracts to help protect the inner ear. This involuntary response is known as the acoustic reflex. The test evaluates whether this reflex is functioning properly and can serve as a valuable indicator of auditory sensitivity or hearing thresholds. It is a quick, simple, and completely painless procedure.
- Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) Testing: Measures the function of the outer hair cells in the cochlea. This non-invasive test provides valuable information, particularly for detecting early signs of cochlear dysfunction or confirming healthy hearing function.
Early detection of hearing loss allows for timely intervention, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your child’s communication, learning, and overall development.
